May 3, 2012 – June 17, 2024
Max Matthew Soti was born on May 3, 2012 in Aurora, Illinois. From his earliest years, Max was known for his infectious enthusiasm, his fearless determination, and a smile that could light up a room. He had a deep passion for motocross—racing under the number #56, a symbol of his perseverance and competitive spirit on and off the track.
Max approached everything with the same intensity he brought to the starting gate. Whether he was riding at the track, hanging out with friends, cheering on his sister Madison, or making the entire family laugh at the dinner table, Max gave 100 percent. He was the kind of kid who made everyone around him feel like they belonged.
Though he left us far too soon on June 17, 2024, Max's memory remains a source of inspiration and love for his family—his father Matthew, his mother Lauren, his sister Madison, his grandparents, uncles, and cousins—and for the countless friends whose lives he touched.
In loving memory of Max, the Max Soti Memorial Scholarship was established to support graduating seniors from Plano High School who demonstrate the same qualities Max embodied: outstanding commitment, resilience, and a genuine love for their community.
The scholarship is coordinated by Josh Schimandle, a close family friend, with support from volunteers who believe that honoring Max means investing in the next generation. Every dollar raised goes directly to student awards—because that's what Max would have wanted: helping others get a shot at something great.
Max never backed down from a challenge. We look for that same perseverance in our scholarship recipients—students who push through obstacles and keep going.
Max made everyone feel included. We invest in students who give back to their community, because strong communities are built by people who show up for each other.
Max led with kindness and genuine care. We look for students who demonstrate compassion and character in their daily lives, not just on paper.
Max threw himself into everything he loved. We want to support students who have their own version of #56—something they pursue with all their heart.
