About the Scholarship

In loving memory of Max Matthew Soti, this scholarship is awarded annually to graduating seniors from Plano High School who demonstrate outstanding commitment, resilience, and a love for their community—the same qualities that defined Max every day of his life.

The award amount is announced each year based on funds raised. Our goal is to grow the scholarship as the foundation grows, so that more students can receive support with each passing year.

Eligibility

• Must be a graduating senior at Plano High School
• Demonstrated dedication, resilience, and commitment to community
• Open to all students regardless of GPA or field of study
• Must plan to attend a college, university, or vocational program

Selection Criteria

Applicants are evaluated on the strength of their personal essay, their involvement in their community, and the degree to which they reflect the values Max embodied: perseverance, kindness, and a willingness to show up for others.

How to Apply

Essay Prompt

Applicants must respond to the following prompt in their own words:

"Describe a challenge you have faced and how it has shaped your character and dedication to making a positive impact in your community."

Application Requirements

• Full name, phone number, mailing address, and email
• Written essay responding to the prompt above
• Applications can be submitted online or picked up through the Plano High School guidance office

• April 1: Application deadline
• April: Selection and award notification

Memorial Events & Fundraisers

All of our events serve a dual purpose: celebrating Max's life and raising funds for the scholarship. Community participation is what makes these events possible—and meaningful.

Annual Events

• #56 Memorial Ride (June 17): A motocross-themed memorial ride and community gathering held on the anniversary of Max's passing. Riders of all levels are welcome. The event features a tribute ceremony, food, and time to share memories of Max.
• Summer Fundraiser Cookout (August): A family-friendly afternoon at Plano Community Park with food, lawn games, raffle prizes, and live music. Free to attend; all proceeds from food sales and raffles support the scholarship fund.
• Scholarship Award Announcement (April): Each year's recipient is announced and celebrated alongside their family, teachers, and the community.
